SuperCollect
SuperCollect, supplier of standard software for data capture using an electronic network, was established in 2000 by Hans Stol and Hans van Nek. Both studied on the Technical University of Delft. Hans van Nek is the founder of Grote Beer, where he developed the first standard accounting software on PC's for the Small and Medium Enterprises in 1978. Hans Stol specialised in the architecture and the implementation of ICT systems in big governmental and public organisations as from 1976. SuperCollect develops, maintains, exploits and sells licences of software that enables collecting data via an electronic network. The whole process for the collection of data are covered: from the definition of the "questionnaire" or "request forms" untill the receipt of the data. The development of the software is based on thorough knowledge of the data collecting process itself and the technology to support that. The SuperCollect system is based on open technology using Internet, SOAP and XML. Only proven technology is used in our systems. We follow the new developments of software systems with professional criticism, realising that there is more hypes and "ideals" than realisme and practical targets in ICT. News
Successful pilot in E-CoRE project in Slovenia In the E-CoRE project governmental data collectors and the private sector have developed methods to reduce the administrative burden for the enterprises. SuperCollect has been selected for the pilot in the project. In the E-CoRE project the four variants (Excel, SuperForm, HTML and SCOOL) of the SuperCollect software have been successfully implemented. The SuperCollect system produced the answers of the data providers using the Slovene PKI standard, showing the transparancy and interoperability of the SuperCollect system. Off line form without formloader
If it is necessary to conduct a survey on a non-permanent basis and off line filling of the form is needed the implementation of the formloader is not always efficient. So, we added the possibility to install an off line questionnaire without using the formloader as one of the new components at the respondent.
It is now possible to include pictures in the questionnaires. Instead of choosing the desired answer out of a list of names or numbers the possibility of selecting pictures has been added. Different user interfaces for the respondents Besides the Excel interface and the powerful SuperForm two other user interfaces for the respondents are available in the production version of SuperCollect (2.01). The HTML form can be used by all data providers (e.g. respondents of questionnaires) with an Internet connection, Windows 95 or higher and Explorer or Netscape. The SCOOL library can be used by third parties like publishers of standard accounting software (Exact, SAP, etc.) to enable their customers to fill in the questionnaires from (e.g.) governmental institutes like Statistics, Tax and Social Security automatically. SuperCollect is very effective and cost efficient when data have to be collected from various information systems. The business units only link once the (meta) data from their existing systems to the variables asked for to report periodically to the headquarter. The business units are not obliged to adapt the structure of their information systems or to make complex interfaces. They are always ready to fulfil the information needs of the management. SuperCollect organises workshops to explain the working of the SuperCollect system. Until now, National Statistical Institutes, other institutions and businesses of over 10 countries visited out headquarters in Delft. Hans Stol contributed in various International Conferences on Official Statistics on the subject of electronic data capture by governmental institutes. The latest contribution was in a seminar in Slovenia organised by the Statistical Office of Slovenia (SORS) with a contribution on "Meta data in the data capture process". In September (19th) Hans Stol will present his paper "SuperCollect: a data capture system using an electronic network" on the ASC conference in Warwick (UK).
